The Washington Redskins have released wide receiver Devery Henderson.
Henderson was signed to a non-guaranteed one year contract worth $840K contract with the Redskins in June, was falling behind wide receivers Leonard Hankerson and Aldrick Robinson on their depth chart.
He could get another shot with the New Orleans Saints depending on how they are looking going into the second week of pre-season.
They are desperate for a burner wide receiver who can run vertical clear-out routes after losing Joe Morgan. Another team who could possibly use him, are the Chicago Bears. Chicago’s only problem is their salary cap, unless Henderson accepts a contract that is less than what he signed with in Washington.
Henderson averaged 29.3 catches with 427.6 yards and scored four touchdowns while playing that role for New Orleans over the previous seasons.
If New Orleans doesn’t take up on him, he could to a team like Chicago or one rebuilding who could use him as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver who could give him a bit more than what he signed for with the Redskins.
Either way, I don’t think he will spend much time at home.
