Reportedly the Phillies are even ready to announce a replacement for Manuel at the impromptu conference.
From CBS Sports’ Matt Snyder:
"Sources indicate to CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler that Manuel is expected to be replaced as manager by Ryne Sandberg at a 2:30 p.m. ET press conference. So the news conference is to announce that Manuel has either resigned or been fired. Regardless, he’s out and Sandberg is in."
Early reports suggest that Ryne Sandberg could be the lead candidate to replace Manuel.
