And just like that, his almost assured job of being named starting quarterback goes up in smoke.

No more than a few hours ago, it was reported by a Buffalo Bills insider that rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel was all but going to be named the starting quarterback, but now a knee injury will force Manuel to miss the rest of the preseason.

Per WKBW:

"“EJ Manuel had some swelling in his left knee this morning and was examined by our medical staff. An MRI revealed that he will need to have a minor knee procedure and that has been scheduled. He will miss the remainder of the preseason and then be re-evaluated at that time. Kevin Kolb will be our starting quarterback for this weekend’s game at Washington. Additionally, wide receiver Kevin Elliott has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.”"

Fellow quarterback Kevin Kolb has looking nothing short of terrible during the Bills first two preseason contests and would be next in line if Manuel is to miss regular season time.
