Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel came in to the team’s second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings as the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart, but he clearly outplayed the Bills starter Kevin Kolb when he led the offense. Manuel entered the game in the third quarter.

While Kolb was in the game, he went 13 of 21 for 111 yards and an interception. The fans seemed to be eager for Manuel to come in to the game and Kolb heard plenty of boos while he was on the field.

When Manuel came in against the Vikings, he immediately made a positive impression by going 6-for-6 and leading the team to a touchdown on an 80 yard drive.

Manuel finished the game 10-for-12 passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Bills head coach Doug Marrone has yet to name a starting quarterback for the team’s season-opener, but it is clear on the field who is the better player. Buffalo may have preferred to take it slowly with Manuel, but when he is outplaying the veteran it is time to make him your guy.
