The Jacksonville Jaguars have had a quarterback competition on their hands through training camp. It’s clearly been less glamorous than the quarterback competitions with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets or even the Buffalo Bills.

You could say it was the “lesser of two evils” competition between Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. The Jaguars have decided that former first round draft pick Blaine Gabbert is the man for the job.

The two split time at quarterback in the 2012 season. Gabbert completed 58.3 percent of his passes for 1,662 yards and 9 touchdowns with six interceptions. Henne completed 53.9% of his passes for 2,084 yards and 11 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

Through the two preseason games Henne has completed 12 of 21 passes for 117 yards and one interception. Gabbert completed 18 of 26 passes for 184 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Both quarterbacks have been relatively inconsistent having a mediocre game and a better game. They might have stuck with Gabbert because he has been the bigger investment.
