Le’Veon Bell to undergo MRI on Tuesday

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Le’Veon Bell suffered a foot injury on Monday Night Football during the team’s second preseason game of the season against the Washington Redskins. The good news is that x-rays on Bell’s foot came back negative, but the bad news is he is not out of the clear just yet.

Bell was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain and he will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.

From ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

The dreaded Lisfranc injury would obviously be a devastating blow to the Steelers backfield.

Pittsburgh has been trying to hand Bell the starting job, but he hasn’t been able to stay healthy. A sore left knee kept Bell out of the first preseason game and if it turns out to be a Lisfranc injury he could miss most of his rookie season.

If Bell is unable to start the season with his foot injury, backup quarterbacks Isaac Redman and Johnathan Dwyer will handle a bulk of the carries.

The team should update Bell’s status later in the day, so be sure to stay tuned.
