Earlier today, the Philadelphia Eagles named Michael Vick their starting quarterback. They intend to keep it that way, struggles or not.

Speaking to Pro Football Talk, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly stated that Vick is their starting quarterback for the season, saying it was not a one or two game trial run.

Per Mike Florio:

"“He’s our starter for the season,” Kelly said.  ”It’s not a one‑game trial basis.”"

Of course, Kelly also stated that he wouldn’t name a starting quarterback until after their final preseason game so he seems to be a man of his word.

It’s not all bad news for Nick Foles though, as he’ll stay on the roster and will not be a cap casualty as some insiders had suggested:

"Asked if Vick and Foles “definitely” will be part of the regular-season roster, Kelly said:  ”Yes.”"

Foles, who many thought would put up a better fight for the starting job played overly tentative and cautious during the Eagles first two preseason games which reportedly made the decision for the Eagles coaching staff.
