Lamar Odom has ‘dire’ drug problem?

Lamar Odom is currently a free agent looking for some work, but he hasn’t generated much attention on the open market. With the lack of interest in Odom and a recent report that surfaced on TMZ.com, we couldn’t help but wonder if there was a connection.
To be clear, Odom hasn’t failed a league drug test in over a decade and caused no troubles with the Clippers last year, but the TMZ report states that Odom has been dealing with a heavy drug problem for the past two years that has required his family to stage an intervention and work to get him back in rehab.
"The marriage of Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom is in crisis, and TMZ has learned … the core reason is hardcore drug abuse.Multiple sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Lamar has had a problem for 2 years. It got so bad, last August Khloe pressured Lamar to go to rehab. Lamar went to a facility in San Diego, but he was so resistant Khloe hired private investigators to secretly stand guard at the rehab place to make sure he didn’t leave. The P.I.s stood guard 24/7.We’re told the situation has become dire. Sources tell us … within the last 2 days, the entire family staged an intervention, trying to convince Lamar to go back to rehab, but he wouldn’t have any of it."
If the report is true, it is easy to understand why no one has been kicking the tires on Odom this season.
You would have to bet that NBA teams know the scoop on Odom and they could be scared away by the allegations.
But you have to wonder, if the drug use was so out of hand, how is he able to avoid failing a drug test? That makes you wonder just how credible the sources are. After all, it is a gossip magazine.
Let’s hope that Odom is on the right path in his life and able to avoid any trouble on or off the court.
