Training camp started so promising for the Buffalo Bills and their fans.

Assuming everything went correctly, rookie E.J. Manuel was finally going to put an end to the Kevin Kolb experiment and things would be wonderful, complete with yellow brick roads.

How quickly things can change.

Manuel, after two very solid preseason games needed minor (though still enough to keep him sidelined for 6-8 weeks) knee surgery, forcing Kolb back into the starting lineup. That didn’t last long either as yesterday Kolb was drilled in the helmet, leaving him with concussion-like symptoms.

All but out of ‘starting’ caliber quarterbacks, the Bills hit the free agent wire and worked out former Oakland Raiders signal caller Matt Leinart today.

The workout must have went swell (or the Bills are just overly desperate) because they signed the one time USC Trojan to a contract.

Per Mike Garafolo:

"Filing to @FOXSports1: Bills to sign QB Matt Leinart after workout today."

The Bills will be Leinart’s fourth team in four years.
