Oakland Raiders say quarterback Matt Flynn needs to rest ‘sore’ arm
By Bryan Rose
Few players in the NFL have a weaker arm than Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Flynn. None of them are starting quarterbacks.
Flynn isn’t much of a deep thrower, nor has he ever been so it comes as a bit of a shock that the Oakland Raiders announced today that Flynn needs to rest his
weak
sore arm.
Per Vic Tafur:
"Raiders are going to rest Matt Flynn with sore arm, Allen said"
Weak arm or not, it’s actually possible that Flynn may need the rest as the quarterback had elbow problems last season as a Seattle Seahawk which have apparently not resolved themselves.
The rest just so happens to come at the perfect time for Terrelle Pryor who was presumed to be the backup quarterback just a few short days ago. However, after another woeful performance by Flynn (and an impressive one from Pryor), the competition for the starting gig has been reopened and Pryor looks to be shoving his foot through that door.
Assuming Pryor does well in the Raiders’ preseason finale, it’s likely he’ll be behind center come Week 1.
