Visanthe Shiancoe released by Baltimore Ravens
By Josh Sanchez
Every preseason as teams begin to make the roster cuts down to 75 before ultimately solidifying their 53-man roster, there are some surprises and head-scratchers along the way. This year, one of those moves comes from the Baltimore Ravens who have announced a few roster cuts today.
After previously announcing the cuts of wide receiver Tommy Streeter and linebacker Bryan Hall, the team announced that they have released tight end Visanthe Shiancoe.
When you consider that the team lost Dennis Pitta for the year and Ed Dickson has been shaken up throughout the preseason, it is surprising to see the team cutting a veteran at the position where they already lack depth.
Apparently the team is really satisfied with Billy Bajema and Dallas Clark.
With Shiancoe back on the open market, you have to wonder what team will come calling first. One team that comes to mind is the Miami Dolphins, who lost tight end Dustin Keller for the year to a torn ACL earlier in the preseason.
