San Francisco 49ers running back LaMichael James left the game following the first series of the second half with an elbow injury. The 49ers back carried the ball 9 times for 15 yards in the game.
That had some worried about LaMichael James health and availability for the start of the season.
“I think LaMichael’s fine,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said, via CSN Bay Area. “LaMichael’s fine. He’s going through something with his elbow.”
Last season as a compliment back he carried the ball only 27 times for 125 yards, an average of 4.6 yards per carry. LaMichael James is fighting for the back up role behind Frank Gore. The other candidate is Anthony Dixon who carried the ball 21 times for 78 yards last season and a 3.7 average. He did manage to find the end zone twice.
The injury doesn’t seem to serious and it just seems to be a minor bang-up. Nothing that should worry 49ers fans, especially considering who ever is a back up will get limited action behind Frank Gore.
