The New York Giants took on the New England Patriots in their preseason finale and the ultimate goal was to avoid any serious injuries while sorting out the final roster spots for the 53-man roster that will be set by Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately for the Giants, there was a significant injury suffered by a key player of the offense.

Running back Andre Brown went down with a broken leg during the final preseason game of the jeopardy, which puts his status for the 2013-14 NFL season in serious jeopardy.

While he was not listed as the team’s starting, Brown was an important part of the running game. Brown was slated to be the team’s third-down and goal-line back, so he could have been a major fantasy player with a bulk of the team’s touchdowns inside of the redzone.

Now, the Giants have to rely even heavier on starting running back David Wilson.

In 2012, Brown scored eight touchdowns and averaged 5.3 yards per carry. Wilson only totaled four touchdowns on the ground.
