Bad news for that Arizona Cardinals offensive line as rookie guard Jonathan Cooper has been placed on the injured reserve, which will end his season.

I had high expectations for this kid as he ranked high on my list for rookie offensive lineman but it looks like we will have to wait another year to watch him get some regular season action. Cooper was Arizona’s seventh overall pick in this years NFL draft.

He was pretty much the building piece they needed for that offensive line. So someone is going to have to step up and become that center piece for the line. Just don’t expect as many running lanes for the halfbacks lined up in the backfield for the Cardinals.

Cooper was one of the best run blocking guards in this years draft.

Along with the announcement of Cooper being placed on the injured reserve, cuts were announced.

They have released wide receiver Kerry Taylor, offensive guard Chilo Rachal, defensive tackle David Carter, safety Jonathon Amaya, wide receiver Charles Hawkins, wide receiver Dan Buckner, center Adam Bice, guard/center Senio Kelemete, tight end Alex Gottlieb, safety Curtis Taylor, linebacker Colin Parker, outside linebacker Zack Nash and tight end Richard Quinn.
