The New York Giants inked wide receiver Victor Cruz to a big six-year $45.879 million contract extension this summer. In a preseason match up earlier this month he bruised his heel and has been held out of practice and games since. At one point Cruz was even wearing a walking boot.

Cruz is targeting a Monday return to practice but is unsure whether or not he’ll actually practice. The opening game is still 9 days away, but now Cruz is down to the wire.

“In my mind, I am,” Cruz said about whether he would play in the season opener versus the Dallas Cowboys.

New York Giants fans and fanatsy owners can pencil Victor Cruz in to play in that season opener. How effective he’ll be with a lingering heel injury is yet to be seen. I’d think that Cruz wouldn’t be entirely 100% and producing to the fullest of his abilities.
