The Jacksonville Jaguars have trimmed their roster to the final 53 players needed, and among them two quarterbacks and a cornerback are the most notable cuts.

Quarterbacks Matt Scott and Mike Kafka, along with cornerback Marcus Trufant, join the list of all the players officially dropped by the Jaguars. CBS Sports gives the list of all the other players that have either been waived or released:

"WR Jeremy Ebert, DE Pannel Egboh, RB Jonathan Grimes, LB Brandon Marshall, WR Charly Martin, OT Pat McQuistan, OG Drew Nowak, CB Kevin Rutland, DT D’Anthony Smith, LB Julian Stanford, WR Toney Clemons, DE Ryan Davis, DT T.J. Barnes, OT R.J. Dill, TE Ryan Otten, WR Tobais Palmer, S Steven Terrell, LB Mike Zimmer."

Earlier this week, the Jaguars picked up a new quarterback, Ricky Stanzi, so it may not have been a big surprise to see these quarterbacks go. Stanzi will likely be the third-string quarterback behind Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. However, Stanzi could become a backup early if Gabbert’s injury holds him out of the season opener.

Despite the Jaguars cutting down to their 53-man roster, all players aren’t safe yet. From the Washington Post:

"“We will always compete to try to get our roster to where we need it to be at,” [Jaguars head coach Gus] Bradley said Friday. “In my eyes, we owe it to them. I think that’s a way for them to understand what we’re trying to do."
