On Thursday night, the New England Patriots and New York Giants squared off in the preseason finale for both teams.
It was apparently still preseason for NFL Network broadcaster Mike Mayock as well, who inexplicably called Tim Tebow ‘Peyton Manning‘ in the middle of the fourth quarter.
Mayock was listening to a sideline report being conducted when the reporter paused as Tim Tebow threw an interception.
She hinted that she wanted the booth to take over the call, where Mayock obliged, suggesting that Peyton Manning just made a horrible throw.
Wait – what? Peyton Manning? What the hell?
I’m pretty sure Mayock just had a brain fart but considering Tebow threw an interception there, it was a near perfectly timed unintentional dig at Peyton Manning.
Now why Peyton Manning was even on Mayock’s mind? I mean, it’s not as if Peyton has ever played for the Patriots or Giants. And it’s not as if Mayock confused Peyton with Eli, so it was nothing more than a random Peyton Manning bomb drop for no good reason.
Only thing worse than Mayock’s flub was the ‘attempt’ made by the Patriots wide receiver to prevent the interception.
Come on – you’re playing for a job!
