Philadelphia 76ers guard Jason Richardson suffered a knee injury last season that took him out the rest of the season. Initial reports indicated missing the entire 2013-14 season but a treatment that Richardson received bumped the timetable to January at the earliest. Considering his birthday is in that month, I guess that would be a nice gift.

This nice piece of information comes from SB Nation.

Now, the Sixers have made it clear that they are here to lose this upcoming season, so they will certainly take their time bringing J-Rich back.

If you look at Richardson though, this could be his last contract. He’s battled knee problems before and his age is on the wrong side of 30. You can forget about the electric dunks he used to bring when on the Warriors. He’ll be battling for playing time off the bench, if teams decide they want him around. He could be a lockroom guy. A leader. And, with the Sixers being so young, he could get into that role quickly.

In any event, J-Rich can only worry about getting back on the court. And since this is the last year of his contract, you know he’s gonna want to show the league he can still play so that perhaps he can snag a 1-2 year deal on a contender that could use some shooting and a little scoring punch.
