Tampa Bay Buccaneers name Rian Lindell kicker
By Bryan Rose
While kicking competitions are usually eventful, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took that to an elevated state this preseason.
The Bucs, in search of a kicker after Connor Barth was deemed out for the year, brought in Lawrence Tynes who they expected to win the job. But Tynes came down with a MRSA infection and is no longer in the running for the job, much to the displeasure of Ms. Tynes who blasted the Bucs organization on Twitter recently.
That left the job to rookie leg Derek Dimke, who’s had his struggles during the preseason.
Uncomfortable with Dimke kicking in pressure situations, the Buccaneers went out and signed former Buffalo Bills kicker Rian Lindell.
Per Alex Mavrez:
"Not sure if this is out there but Rian Lindell has won @tbbuccaneers kicking job, a source tells @foxsports. Story coming asap"
Quite the cluster, all for a kicker.
Either way, it appears everything is sorted out now and that Lindell will be kicking for the Bucs come the season opener.
