Liverpool has gotten off to a hot start winning their first two games of the season. Manchester United is off to a solid start as well winning and tying a game.

Liverpool gets center-back Martin Skrtel, who has been out with a knee injury but full-back Aly Cissokho will not play after suffering an ankle injury in Tuesday’s Capital One Cup win over Notts County. Cissokho could be out 4-5 weeks. Kolo Toure (groin) and midfielder Joe Allen (hamstring) were also injured in that game and are doubtful for the contest.

Liverpool and Manchester United are the league’s two winningest franchises in history.

‘You’ve got the two most successful clubs in the country and the rivalry is huge because of how close the clubs are and all the massive games and battles we’ve had with them over the years,” Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said. ”If you ask any supporter or player to pick a game they’d like to win, you look for Manchester United.”

After a controversial tweet last week, there could be some tension amongst supports. Manchester United manager David Moyes encouraged fans on bot sides to behave.

”This doesn’t need anybody else to get involved,” he said. ”It is a great game of football, with two fantastic football clubs.”

”If anybody from Liverpool or Manchester United stepped out of line they shouldn’t. It is important people watch this game for the football and nothing else.

“All I can say is I am looking forward to going. It will be a great occasion. Hopefully everyone conducts themselves in the right manner.”
