With the final NFL rosters announced, teams are beginning to tip their hand and show what players will be in for big and expanded roles during the 2013-14 NFL season. For New York Giants running back Michael Cox, his added role could come on special teams.

According to reports, Cox could handle a majority of the team’s kickoff return duties thanks to the injury to running back Andre Brown.

From ESPN New York:

"Little bit surprising that they only took four halfbacks (Hynoski’s a fullback), considering Brown looks to be out four to six weeks with a fractured leg. Cox could steal kick-return duties from Wilson, who was one of the best kick returners in the league last year. This is a spot at which the Giants could add someone this week."

If Brown would have been able to avoid injury in the preseason, David Wilson would have handled the team’s return duties.

But with Wilson taking over as the team’s workhorse back, the Giants will not risk injury to their No. 1 back by placing him on the return team on a regular basis.
