It has been a wild offseason for Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd and the latest development could prove to be another blow to the team’s defensive backfield. According to recent reports, Byrd has been diagnosed with plantar faciitis that could keep him out of action if the injury is proven to be serious enough.

From Ian Rapoport of NFL.com:

The Bills would prefer to keep Byrd on the field as much as possible and the star safety would like to be healthy for his contract year, but you never know if a player will be the same player he was prior to the injury or just how much the injury could affect his playing time moving forward.

The team can be happy with the fact that the injury did not require surgery, but that doesn’t mean their top safety will be able to play at the level he was before suffering his most recent setback.
