The Pittsburgh Steelers released running back Jonathan Dwyer as part of their final roster cuts to get down to the final 53-man roster and the 24-year-old running back went unclaimed on waivers.
From Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports:
Forget to mention earlier, ex-Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer also among those who cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent

The good news for Dwyer is that he is still a very young running back and he can contribute to a team that is looking to add some power to their offensive attack. Dwyer may not be the shiftiest back or a player that can add a lot of versatility to the running game, but he is an intriguing short-yardage option.
Unfortunately for Dwyer, it was his fumbling issues that likely led to his release.
Once the regular season begins and injuries start to hit the starting line ups and hurt teams running back depth, Dwyer’s phone should begin to ring with some interest.
