I guess the new theme to athletic commercials is to make them as strange and perplexing as possible.

I mean, earlier today we saw Nike’s new release which featured Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs (aka, Puff Daddy) being the alter ego of Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Why he needs an alter ego, I don’t know. And while it’s the artist former known as Puff Daddy, that’s an even better question.

Though, odd as that commercial was, it might be better than UGGs recent attempt which featured spokesman and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

The clip features Brady sitting in the back of a bus, fully grown, looking at a bunch of kid’s with baseball gloves and football helmets en route to a game. It’s an obvious play on Brady’s high school career.

Brady then gets out of his seat, continues to walk through the bus, marching through his time at Michigan, then into some trophy room before Brady walks through a Super Bowl press conference and into his current team bus, complete with random Patriots before he steps off and looks at the stadium before him.

So, in short, I guess if you buy some UGGs you’ll either get some magic shoes or one hell of an acid trip.
