The Baltimore Ravens 2013 season took an early hit when they lost starting tight end early in training camp. Those concerns took another hit when Ed Dickson went down with an injury. Originally it looked like Dennis Pitta was going to have to miss the season following hip surgery, but the Ravens put Pitta on the injured reserve/designated for return list.

That means that Dennis Pitta could play in week 9, but that isn’t a realistic goal for Pitta. Week 12 or 13 would be more realistic for the tight end. Still it is very optimistic and you have to wonder whether it’d be worth rushing Pitta back instead of just keeping him out for the season.

Pitta certainly wouldn’t be as productive as he could during a end of season stretch, but the Ravens could need the passing threat of Pitta in a tight divisional race with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a rejuvenated Cincinnati Bengals franchise.

For fantasy owners he wouldn’t be worth holding onto until then.
