There was some belief and discussion that the Buffalo Bills could start undrafted free agent Jeff Tuel in Week One of the season as they open up their regular season against the New England Patriots, but the closer we get to the start of the new season the more likely it appears that rookie E.J. Manuel will be the team’s starter for the season-opener.

In fact, the Bills are expected to name Manuel the starter on Wednesday.

It will be a big difference having an undrafted rookie as the starter compared to the first rookie quarterback that was selected in the 2013 NFL Draft. However, even with Manuel, it is highly unlikely that the Bills will be competitive against New England.

You can expect the Patriots passing attack to have a huge day without Stephon Gilmore and Jairus Byrd in the secondary, so Manuel will be forced to use his arm while playing from behind. It could get real ugly quick.
