You never want to be the man who prematurely celebrates, but it seems like every year we see one bone head that drops the ball before he crosses the goal line and that was no different on Thursday night with the NFL season-opener between the Denver Broncos and defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Danny Trevathan picked off a Joe Flacco pass and had an easy pick-six that could have put the Broncos up 48-17, but he got overzealous and decided to drop the ball before he actually had the touchdown.

As a result, it was ruled a touchback.

Baltimore took advantage of the idiotic mistake and drove right down the field to score a touchdown of their own.

To magnify things. Danny Trevathan’s turnover led to an injury to the team’s top linebacker Wesley Woodyard. That was as bad of a mistake as it gets.

With the move, Trevathan joins the likes of DeSean Jackson and Leon Lett with his premature celebration.

Whoops.
