You’d think with a stable of running backs that includes the likes of Pro Bowler Steven Ridley, along with Shane Vereen, Legarrette Blount  and Brandon Bolden, the last thinbg the Pats need to do is sign another RB, right?

Well, they’re certainly leaving no stone unturned in the vent they were to need to sign one off of the street:

Dwyer did look like a serviceable back in the preseason, and his release wasn’t at the urging of the Steelers’ coaching staff. It was instead a combination of less expensive options in rookie Le’Veon Bell, LaRod Stephens-Howling, Isaac Redman and Felix Jones.

So, perhaps if the Pats were to lose one of their backs to an injury, they’d look to Dwyer as an emergency option. But until then, Dwyer will sit on the free agent market and hope someone else comes calling.
