Nobody wants to miss a Monday Night football game, not even Ed Reed.

The ball-hawking safety has been nursing an injury throughout the offseason and into training camp, but will likely see the field come the Houston Texans season opening game against the San Diego Chargers. However, despite the solid prognoses that Reed will see the field, he won’t be starting according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Per Tania Ganguli:

"Kubiak still says Reed is a gametime decision. Won’t start, but could play. #Texans"

Reed was able to practice with the Texans this week, though, all be it on a somewhat limited basis.

Many didn’t believe Reed would be available to play until the second or third week of the season (and that still could be a worst case scenario), so the idea of him playing Monday night is a pretty good sign. The extra day of rest will only help Reed’s case.

If he can’t take the field, Shiloh Keo will start in his place.
