The Minnesota Vikings kicked off their 2013-14 campaign against the division rival Detroit Lions and star running back Adrian Peterson picked up right where he left off a year ago. On his first carry of the day, Peterson scampered 78-yards for the touchdown to put the Vikings ahead early in the first quarter.

Peterson has vowed to get 2,500 rushing yards this season and he is certainly off to a good start.

It was just last year that Peterson nearly broke the single-season rushing yards record and that was coming off of a torn ACL. Imagine what he will be able to do when he is 100 percent healthy. It’s going to be very scary for opposing defenses.

This is just one of the first scores of the day and the regular season is just getting underway. It’s going to be a long and fun ride so be sure to stay tuned throughout the day for all of the action.

It is great to have football back.
