Talent has never been a problem for Martellus Bennett. The Chicago Bears’ huge tight end has the size and skill set to be among the elite in the NFL, but hasn’t ever been able to harness the mental side of the game.

Hoping that he’d do so in the next season or two, the Bears took a chance on Bennett this offseason, signing him to a four year deal.

So far, so good.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler hooked up with Bennett in the back of the end zone earlier today, scoring the Bears’ first touchdown of the season. But it wasn’t just any ordinary touchdown – no – not at all. It was an amazing catch by Bennett, who isn’t exactly known for his butter soft hands.

The hard throwing Cutler force fed a pass into the back of the end zone where Bennett was covered well, but somehow he managed to keep control of the ball as he fell to the ground, kept it from bouncing around with the defender’s arm latched onto him and as if that wasn’t enough, kept his feet in play.

Nice job, young buck.
