Speedster Jeff Demps temporarily decided to put his football career on hold to pursue track and field, but now it looks like he could be returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a move that will provide them plenty of speed to add to their arsenal.

From Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

Demps missed offseason workouts and training camp to run in the IAAF Track and Field World Championships, so he will have plenty of ground to make up when he rejoins the team.

If Demps is to make an impact on the Buccaneers roster as soon as he joins the team, you would have to believe that would be on special teams. Tampa Bay could use a boost at kick returner and Demps’ speed would present the team with a very interesting and potentially exciting threat to take it to the house.
