During the Pittsburgh Steelers first drive in the game, second-year guard David DeCastro was pulling when he went low for a block and ended up cutting out the knees of his own teammate — Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey.

Pouncey stayed on the ground in obvious pain before a number of minutes before the team called out the cart. It didn’t look good.

The medical team helped Pouncey back to his feet, but he was unable to put any pressure on his leg. He was immediately taken to the locker room for further evaluation. Pouncey’s loss would be a devastating blow to the team’s offensive line that already has plenty of questions. With Pouncey injured, Kelvin Beachum gets the call to step in as the first-team center.

Hopefully Pouncey can return to action later this year, but the early signs are giving Steelers fans very little to be optimistic about.

Shortly after the injury, the Steelers turned over the ball in the endzone.

We will update you on Pouncey’s status as more information becomes available.
