It’s becoming more and more clear that barring some sort of minor miracle, New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola will not play in their game against the New York Jets this coming Thursday night.

However, with ten days off until the Patriots take the field in Week Three, one would assume Amendola would be fine to play when the Patriots host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But you know what they say about assuming.

According to Karen Gureigan, the Patriots are ‘uncertain’ about Amendola’s availability past Week Two:

"According to source, Amendola’s status beyond Thursday’s game uncertain as well"

Yikes.

Groin injuries are never fun and can be known to take a while to repair themselves, though saying Amendola will miss anymore than Week Two would be nothing more than speculation at this point. The Patriots haven’t even officially stated that Amendola will miss the game against the Jets, though, it does seem incredibly likely.

Amendola does have a bit of a history of injuries as he’s missed 20 of his last 33 games and appears likely to miss more if his recovery doesn’t drastically speed itself up.
