The Cincinnati Reds were able to avoid a sweep by the last-place Chicago Cubs with a 6-0 win today after catcher Devin Mesoraco, who was hitless in his previous 13 at bats, hit his first home run in more than a month today.

During the game, there was a rather-awkward moment between Cubs right fielder Brian Bogusevic and Reds shortstop Zack Cozart. In the ninth-inning, Cozart completed a double-play to tag-out Boguesvic, who accidentally (we hope) grabbed Cozart in an area he’d probably rather be left alone:

The win today complete a 7-3 homestand. Cincinnati entered the game in third place in the Central, three games behind the division-leading Cardinals and two behind Pittsburgh, and now look to make a late-season push to overtake both teams and win the NL Central division title.

After winning the first two games of this series, the Cubs were in position for their first sweep of the Reds in Cincinnati since May 2001, but failed to even score a run, as they were shutout once again, and are just waiting for this season to end.
