WWE Night of Champions Preview

Boy oh boy this pay view is getting a lot of hype. The last couple of weeks of Monday Night RAW and Smackdown has pretty much focused on this Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton feud the company is having right now.

If you don’t know what happened, Daniel Bryan and John Cena battled it out in one of the best matches of the year at Summer Slam a month ago. In one of the toughest match ups in Daniel Bryan’s career, he defeated the odds and silenced his critics as he was able to get a clean victory over John Cena and become the WWE Champion.

What happen after the match is what had everybody’s mind coming to a complete halt. Randy Orton and Triple H pretty much had a plan in place that would make Randy Orton the WWE Champion. Now this seems like an Evolution/Corporation 2.0 type of stable or partnership if you will.

Throwing Big Show in the mix who has this “Ironclad Contract” and forcing him to do Randy Orton’s dirty work is pretty brilliant too.

Now with Night of Champions, usually every championship is on the line. But the story-line involving CM Punk/Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman happens to the only match on the card where the champion isn’t putting up his title.

Another champion who isn’t on the card yet is United States Champion Dean Ambrose. Right now the only I see matching up against Ambrose for the United States Championship if they happen to add it to the card, is Kofi Kingston.

After Dolph Ziggler’s loss against Bray Wyatt on Monday, I have a feeling those two will some how get involved in a bit of a feud while this whole “Where’s Kane’ thing plays out.

Now onto what the card currently holds for this event.

Tag Team Turmoil (YouTube Pre-Show)

The Real Americans, Prime Time Players, The Usos, Tons of Funk and 3MB will battle it out to see who will take on The Shield for the Tag Team Championships on the main card for the pay per view event. The Prime Time Players are slowly taking over the role of the baby face tag team and could possibly open up a heel turn by The Usos in the next couple of weeks. I don’t think any other team will be in place to win gold from The Shield but The Prime Time Players considering the momentum they’ve picked up in recent weeks.

Tag Team Champions The Shield vs Winners of the Tag Team Turmoil

Divas Champion A.J. Lee vs Natalya vs Brie Bella vs Noami (Fatal Four Way Match)

A.J. Lee dropped her own little pipe bomb on the Total Divas! cast a couple weeks ago on RAW and it’s been by far the best promo a Diva has cut in a long time. Lee has been a very entertaining champion since her title reign began. Her little feud she has with the rest of the Divas has boiled over and set herself in a Fatal Four Way. Not sure how much the crowd will be into this match up, but this could be a test for the young Divas champion.

Rob Van Dam vs World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio

I sort of seen this Ricardo Rodriguez coming from a mile away but I wasn’t sure who he would be managing. When he announced it was Rob Van Dam, I was a little confused. We are used to guys like Paul Heyman and Bill Alfonso standing in the corner of the Human Highlight Reel. But this storyline has been surprisingly good. With Cody Rhodes out of the picture, Damien Sandow still holds the Money in the Bank briefcase for the World Heavyweight Championship. So this could be a good sign for Rob Van Dam as he looks to capture his first ever World Heavyweight Championship.

CM Punk vs Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman

How once again this could be the match of the night. Paul Heyman and CM Punk have been doing a beautiful job at building up this feud. Heyman’s attack on Punk with a kendo stick a couple weeks ago is something that will for sure make the Best of WWE RAW 2013 DVD whenever that is released. Punk’s promise to the WWE Universe to break Paul Heyman’s face is making this wrestling match look like a real fight. This is set to be one entertaining match up and whenever Punk is able to get his hands on Heyman, this crowd is going to lose it’s mind. But I think one way or another, Brock Lesnar will get involved.

Daniel Bryan vs WWE Champion Randy Orton

I always loved it when Randy Orton was heel. When Orton is a heel, he can get heat quick and keep the heat until his face turn. I’m loving this whole underdog thing again with Daniel Bryan having to prove himself to another top dog in the company after being knocked off the top of the mountain of the company. I’m sure somewhere in this match up Triple H, The Shield, the Big Show maybe even the Rhodes brothers will get involved. I’m not sure if I see Bryan beating Orton though, with Cena being out for awhile I don’t think anybody else will be getting a shot at the WWE Championship for awhile besides Daniel Bryan. This could drag on for a couple months.

So with the card being laid out for us, this could be an exciting pay per view. I’m not sure if it will be able to live up to Summer Slam, but I’m sure this will have a few twist and turns just like it.

Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us on Sunday.
