The Cleveland Browns have said all summer that they were going to use running back Trent Richardson a lot and as a workhorse. When the season kicked off against the Miami Dolphins he carried the ball only 13 times for 47 yards. Against the Baltimore Ravens he’ll get more chances becuase offensive coordinator Norv Turner said he wants running back Trent Richardson to get more than 20 carries.

After all the talk of using Richardson as a workhorse and the offense running through him it was a surprise to see him have a smaller than expected role. Richardson was surprised too, and talked to head coach Rob Chudzinski and Turner about it.

The Baltimore Ravens season opening loss to the Denver Broncos was surely embarrassing. While they gave up 7 passing touchdowns to Peyton Manning and 462 yards passing, they were better against the run. Denver’s running backs carried the ball 21 times for 67 yards. That is an average of 3.19 yards a carry.
