Houston Texans safety Ed Reed hasn’t played yet for his new team as he recovers from a hip injury that required surgery. It didn’t stop his new teammates for giving him a little friendly locker room teasing.
Fellow safety Daniel Manning gave him a walker and the Texans presented him with a cake in the shape of a Hall of Fame jacket.
“It’s a platinum walker,” Reed joked, via the Houston Chronicle.
“That and some hair dye and he’ll be good,” inside linebacker Brian Cushing said in reference to his salt and pepper hair, via ESPN.com.
Unfortunately for Reed his birthday comes on a very sad and tragic day. The younger players asked him about that particular birthday.
“Because his birthday’s on 9-11, we were asking him, like, ‘Where were you at on 9-11? And he was like, he was in college in his senior year,” cornerback Johnathan Joseph said. “And I was, like, ‘Wow, I was a junior in high school.’ So, yeah, it is funny.”
Reed is still trying to get on the field for the Texans. Yesterday he was limited in practice, but it was a relatively light practice. Reed is still day to day by most estimates.
