The Indianapolis Colts don’t appear to be overly confident in either Ahmad Bradshaw or Vick Ballard and because of that, offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton says it would be ideal to split carries 50-50 between the two running backs.

Per Stephen Holder:

"Pep Hamilton says Ahmad Bradshaw’s role will continue to expand over course of the season. Ideal carries be he and Ballard? 50/50 acc to Pep"

Bradshaw has been nursing an injury for quite some time, which has reduced his role though as Hamilton states, his role will continue to grow as the season rolls along. However, Pep doesn’t get specific if he wants to split the carries in the near future as Bradshaw recovers or going forward in the future, even when Bradshaw is healthy.

Bradshaw is the more talented runner between the two and it seems like it would be doing a disservice to the Colts’ offense if both players, assuming they’re healthy, would be getting a half split of the carries.

Hopefully one of the two (namely Bradshaw) will take over the role and become the feature back.
