On NFL.com you can watch their “Sound FX: Rivalry Games of Week 1” video that features players mic’d up during the game. I’ve always loved these segments and enjoyed the window it provides into the NFL game and the sideline interactions. Usually it seems to capture the more humorous and entertaining stuff and the less real stuff.

Well this weekend they had Colin Kaepernick mic’d up as he took on the Green Bay Packers. Kaepernick was the center of a controversial late hit from Packers linebacker Clay Matthews. A scuffle followed the play.

Alex Boone to Kaepernick: “That ain’t going to be tolerated at all.”

Kaepernick: “I got you, I got you.”

Joe Staley to Kaepernick: “I hear you about that, but we’re setting a precedent. No one is (expletive) hitting you late.”

Offensive lineman are known for being defensive of their quarterbacks so this isn’t necessarily out of the ordinary to see, but it’s is awesome to see lineman telling their quarterback they’re going to protect him. 49ers fans should be thrilled about that.

Staley did draw an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the play, but the NFL later said he shouldn’t have been penalized.
