Right now the New Orleans Saints are holding onto sole possession of first place in the NFC South going into Week 2. In another division match up against the Buccaneers, they’re looking to go 2-0 and keep the division lead going into Week 3.

Last week is exactly what this Saints team needed. Their defense struggled last season and that’s what held them back from the Atlanta Falcons. This season the defense looks like it’s a lot stronger and the offense looks like it has improved as well.

Tampa Bay and Darrelle Revis tried to go into New York in Revis’s former home against a rookie and break down their door. That didn’t necessarily work out that well as they fell to the rookie in a disappointing loss.

You could tell that quarterback Josh Freeman was frustrated with his receivers late in the game as they missed some key plays.

This week they can’t afford to do the same thing or else Brees will make them pay dearly. Tampa Bay’s defense is also a core that has improved in the division. With Dashon Goldson and Revis being picked up during the off-season, the secondary of this Tampa D has the potential to be dangerous.

They have nothing but ball hawks on that side of the ball and could get a couple takeaways against Drew Brees this weekend.

Brees finished the game against the division champion Atlanta Falcons, completing 26 of 35 attempts for 357 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Freeman completed 15 of 31 attempts for 210 yards with one touchdown and one interception. This offense definitely needs to step it up if they want to have any shot at beating the New Orleans Saints.

The games between these two teams last season were pretty entertaining, as in their last meeting Freeman nearly led the Buccaneers to a last second touchdown victory over the Saints.
