Colin Kaepernick is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league and he helped to lead the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl berth just a season ago. After the season, Kaepernick’s play allowed the 49ers to part ways with Alex Smith, who ended up with the Chiefs, but there was almost a time last year when Kaepernick came close to joining the Philadelphia Eagles.

From Adam Schefter of ESPN:

That is a scary thought.

Could you imagine a quarterback with Kaepernick’s skill set in Chip Kelly’s new offense?

If you think that the Eagles offense is impressive with Michael Vick behind center, they could have been worlds different had the Eagles made a move to bring in the former Nevada stand out.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, but luckily for the 49ers, the trade never became final.
