Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Mason Foster has an early candidate for Defensive Play of the Year just one of his fellow linebackers had one of the biggest bone-headed plays — Lavonte David hitting New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith out of bounds to set up the game-winning field goal — and now the Buccaneers are in position to upset the New Orleans Saints.
Foster picked off Drew Brees before scampers an impressive 85 yards for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter.
On his way to the endzone, Foster was able to weave in and out of the Saints attackers as he kept his eye on paydirt and ended up with the touchdown.
It was a play that was reminiscent of James Harrison’s return at Super Bowl XLIII, but you have to wonder how in the world Brees did not see Foster sitting there on the route.
No matter what Brees did or didn’t see, you can’t discount the unbelievable play that Foster made.
