It takes you into maybe the most horrible thing a cornerback could be looking at, a match up against Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. The man known as Megatron broke the NFL single season receiving record last year and is looking to replicate that performance again this year.

Heading into the game Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson was relishing to opportunity to play opposite Johnson and

“At the end of the day, I want to be the best cornerback in the game,” Peterson said. “If you are the best, you guard the best.”

“He can do it all,” Peterson said, via AZcentral.com. “He’s a physical-type guy. He’s big, he’s fast. He can run after the catch. He has nice, strong hands. When he catches the ball, it’s hard to separate the ball from him.”

In this match up though, it looked like Johnson got the better of Peterson catching 6 passes (out of 8 targets) for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns. Peterson did get one pass deflection though.
