The Boston Red Sox, who finished in last place in the American League East last season, are nine games up in the division this year and could clinch the division title as early as Thursday. They also have a 3.5 game lead on the Detroit Tigers for home field throughout the playoffs with just 10 games to play.

How are they doing it?

By growing beards of course!

Instead of cowboying up, watching Kevin Millar do his best Hulk Hogan impression and being the idiots like they were in 2004, the Red Sox are growing beards. Sounds kind of boring until you actually see them. First baseman Mike Napoli and outfielder Johnny Gomes have especially huge beards.

Do you have a beard? If so, you probably play for the Red Sox. However, if you have a beard and don’t play for the Red Sox, you can see the bearded bunch play for a buck.

Your beard doesn’t even have to be real! Fans that attend Red Sox home games have been sporting fake beards throughout the last few months and those fake beards will be able to purchase the $1 tickets as well.

The Red Sox will host the Baltimore Orioles in the second of a three-game set Wednesday. The Orioles took game one 3-2 and Chris Davis hit his 51st home run of the season.
