ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported on Twitter that Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden’s sprained thumb on his throwing hand does not need surgery.

Well I guess if you are Brandon Weeden and or a Cleveland Browns fan, you can consider this a little bit of good news. The world of the Cleveland Browns has been turned upside down and everything is looking somewhat fuzzy.

Their offense hasn’t gotten off to the start most people imagined it could as Weeden has been sacked 11 times. Now Bryan Rose, a colleague of mine reported that the Browns may not give Weeden the starting quarterback position back. Which is pretty interesting.

They drafted Weeden in the first round of last years draft, hoping he would finally be their answer. The Browns recently traded their other high draft pick from last seasons draft, Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first round pick.

So far this season Weeden has only thrown for 516 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Not much you can do with the pigskin if you’re constantly under pressure, so this can’t all rest on the shoulders of Weeden. Cleveland should consider taking a look at their offensive front and see what other moves they could make.

But holding another first round pick in next years draft could benefit them once again, hopefully they don’t trade whoever they draft.
