When the Indianapolis Colts pulled off their blockbuster traded yesterday afternoon in which they acquired running back Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns, the next question was would be play.

The answer is yes.

Colts head coach Chuck Pagano confirmed that Richardson would play in San Francisco against the 49ers this weekend, though, didn’t divulge if he would be the starter or not.

Per Kevin Bowen:

"Pagano said Trent Richardson will play as much as he can handle on Sunday."

Considering Pagano’s suggestion that he can ‘play as much as he can handle’ one could assume that if Richardson wants to start, he’ll be given that opportunity though there has been no official word. Richardson may not feel completely comfortable in the Colts’ offense as of yet considering he’ll be coming off limited practice time or he may not want to rock the boat and just step into the shoes of Ahmad Bradshaw prematurely. Then again, he could not care and just start anyway.

Either way, it appears Richardson will be on the field in San Francisco this weekend and will used often.
