Newly acquired Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson is quite happy to be joining his new team.
“[The Colts] gave up a first-round pick. That shows a lot of respect they have for me,” Richardson told ESPN.com’s Mike Wells. “Playing against these guys twice, just seeing how they are around each other when they’re on the sideline, how they’re jelling together, just being in the locker room for these couple hours, it’s been a big change. They’re happy to come to work, and they’re ready to go.”
Richardson, the third overall pick of the 2012 draft by the Cleveland Browns, was dealt to the Colts for a 2014 first round pick. Richardson will now team with second-year phenom quarterback Andrew Luck, who was the first overall pick of the 2012 draft. The move may very well give the Colts the most talented backfield in the NFL.
In two games this season, Richardson has 105 yards on 31 carries. During his rookie season of 2012, Richardson 950 yards on 267 carries. He also had 367 yards on 51 receptions and scored 12 total touchdowns.
Richardson will wear #34 for the Colts and will make his debut Sunday at 4:25 pm EST in Candlestick Park when the Colts battle the San Francisco 49ers.
