With a few hours left until game time, we’re still awaiting the status of starting running back Reggie Bush.

The former New Orleans Saint and Miami Dolphin injured his knee last week and there have been strong rumors that the Lions plan to hold Bush out for precautionary reasons, despite the fact that he’s asked the coaching staff to play.

But no matter what the coaching staff decides with Bush, who remains a game time decision, it shouldn’t alter the playing time of Joique Bell who is expected to play ‘plenty’ regardless if Bush plays or not.

Per Dave Birkett:

"Joique Bell play plenty today regardless of Reggie Bush’s status. Theo Riddick is probably No 2 if Bush sits. He worked 2nd some in practice"

Of note, if Bush does not play, Birkett expects rookie Theo Riddick to take over the backup duties, not Mikel Leshoure.

Either way, it appears that Bell will be seeing the field even more than normal this week even if Bush is granted clearance to play.
