The New England Patriots wide receiver corps, outside of the injured Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman have looked nothing short of woeful through the first two weeks of the NFL season.

Yes, Amdenola will likely be back in a few weeks and tight end Rob Gronkowski should be available soon, maybe early as Week Four, but that doesn’t mean the Patriots aren’t looking for some reinforcements.

According to NFL insider Michael Silver (and Ian Rapoport), quarterback Tom Brady has been texting both Brandon Lloyd and Deion Branch, hoping one of the two (if not both) would be willing to return to their former stomping grounds and help out the Patriots’ dicey wide receiver problems:

"Tom Brady has been texting Brandon Lloyd and Deion Branch, trying to get them back in the gold, @rapsheet & i have learned"

Branch looked relatively spent the last time we saw him so that seems a bit more unrealistic than a return of Lloyd, who could likely still play at a relatively high level.
